Priority is given to Nordic and North European studies, but contributions from other European, Mediterranean (especially Classical), Near Eastern, and Arctic archaeologies are also welcome, as are other important studies in world archaeology. Historiography and review-articles are given a lower priority, but annotated lists of books received are presented regularly.

Acta Archaeologica publishes fu11 presentations of important new discoveries, archaeological analyses, and general and interdisciplinary studies with an archaeological basis. Publication languages are English, French, German, and Italian.
